De overname / The takeover

En zo kwam ook Petra Vermazen in contact met Elythé, Theo en Elly. Gewapend met haar beren verzameling om te verkopen, maakte ze kennis en een gezellig praatje. Op een rommelmarkt in de buurt zag Theo haar talent voor etaleren, verkoop en zakelijk inzicht. Spelend met het idee om te gaan stoppen met de winkel, zag hij in Petra een goede opvolger. Vol enthousiasme heeft ze die taak op zich genomen en op 18 april 2014 is ze begonnen met het verbouwen van de locatie. Op 3 mei werd de locatie feestelijk heropend en kreeg Petra de sleutel overhandigd. Theo bleef in een adviserende rol altijd in de buurt.

And that is how Petra vermazen met Elythé, Theo and Elly. Armed with her bear collection to sell, she got acquainted and a had nice conversation. At a garage sale in the area, Theo saw her talent for presentation, sales and business insight. Playing with the idea to quit with the store, he saw in Petra a good candidate to succeed him. Full of enthusiasm she took the task at hand and started renovating the location on April 18th, 2014. At May 3rd, the location had a festive re-opening and Petra received the key to the Elythé store. Theo always stuck around in an advising role.

Het Begin / The Beginning

Het is allemaal begonnen met Theo Branse en Elly Nederveld. Theo liep al langer met het idee rond om iets te gaan doen voor de buurtbewoners in Amsterdam-Noord en op 14 november 2009 opende buurtwinkel Elythé op de van der Pekstraat 6 voor het eerst haar deuren. De naam Elythé is ontstaan door het samenvoegen van Elly en Theo. In de winkel werd antiek, curiosa en andere spullen verkocht voor de buurtbewoners, zodat zij een extra zakcentje konden verdienen. Het duurde niet lang voordat de buurtbewoners kwamen met hun spulletjes of voor een luisterend oor bij een bakje koffie of thee.

It all began with Theo Branse and Elly Nederveld. Theo was pondering for quite a while to do something for the community in Amsterdam-North and on November 14th, 2009 the neighborhood store Elythé on the van der Pekstraat 6 was a fact. The name Elythé is a combination of their names, Elly and Theo.

In the shop antiquities, curiosities and other items were sold for the neighborhood residents, so they could earn a bit of pocket money. It didn't take long before neighbors came in with their items or for a listening ear with a cup of coffee or tea.

Sindsdien / Since

Petra is meer in de richting van mooie spullen en curiosa van buurtbewoners gegaan. Zij is ook brood, groente en fruit gaan uitdelen aan bewoners die het hard nodig hebben. Door renovaties moest Elythé uit het pand aan de Van der Pekstraat 6 en verhuisde tijdelijk naar de Ranonkelkade 6. In deze periode is (3 dec. 2015) de stichting Elythé bij Petra opgericht, met Theo als voorzitter, Blondi als secretaris en Petra als penningmeester. Na ongeveer 2 jaar op de Van der Pekstraat 120 is er sinds begin 2018 een mooie grotere winkel op de Waddenweg 5.

Petra took more the direction of beautiful items and curiosities from neighborhood residents. She also started giving away bread, vegetables and fruit to residents who really needed it. Because of renovations Elythé had leave the location on the Van der Pekstraat 6 and moved temporarily to the Ranonkelkade 6. In this period, the foundation Elythé bij Petra was established (Dec. 3rd, 2015), With Theo as chairman, Blondi as Secretary and Petra as treasurer. After about 2 Years on the Van der Pekstraat 120 there is a beautiful bigger store since the beginning of 2018 on the Waddenweg 5.
